The Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science – Cefas -
makes an important contribution to securing healthy and sustainable
marine and freshwater environments so that current and future
generations can prosper. Our vision is to make a real difference for
society, as recognised leaders in marine and aquatic science.
As the UK's largest and most diverse applied marine science centre, we help to shape and implement policy through our internationally renowned science and collaborative relationships that span the EU, UK government, non-governmental organisations, research centres and industry. We support this by collecting, managing and interpreting environmental, biodiversity and fisheries data.
Our work takes us from inland water courses to the open ocean, and includes both wild and farmed fish. Our influence and leadership spans a wide spectrum of issues, including: climate change impacts and adaptation marine planning and environmental licensing; sustainable fisheries management; marine biodiversity and habitats; fish and shellfish health and hygiene emergency response.
Cefas are the UK Government’s trusted advisors on fisheries management policy. We intend to expand our operations internationally and now require a talented person to find new customers in the field of fisheries and ecosystem management and governance.
We seek an experienced business developer capable of initiating and sustaining relationships at all levels, commercially and in government, to facilitate long-term, trusted advisor status to overseas governments.
Based in our Lowestoft Laboratory, your role will be to lead the development of new and existing Cefas business in the UK and overseas with an emphasis on becoming trusted advisors to overseas governments over the long-term. You will be required to initiate new customer development and collaborative opportunities, manage key customer interfaces and present our work in various fora.
Academic qualifications for direct entry to this post is a degree or equivalent qualification
In addition you will have a strong business track record in the application of marine science or similar technical / scientific services as well as the combination of independent and team working at all corporate levels to enable influential scientific projects.
